Building a mindset of global collaboration to achieve "One Furukawa"

With the expansion of our overseas business, we are facing an urgent need to develop talent to serve our global operations. Also for our subsidiaries overseas, there have not been enough opportunities to learn about Furukawa Electric Group and our management philosophy.
Based on my own experience with overseas operations, I have always felt that it is important for anyone wishing to improve their global communication skills to experience a foreign culture first hand.
In view of this, we launched our Global Development Program in 2010. In this program, we invite selected members from our overseas subsidiaries to Japan, share Furukawa Electric Group's philosophy, vision and diversity concept with them, and develop their leadership skills. The training also allows them to engage in discussions with Japanese employees on a variety of subjects and suggest solutions to challenges.
This training has helped our overseas employees deepen their understanding of Furukawa Electric Group. It has also improved their motivation, because they are proud to have been selected. Our Japanese employees can also gain a better understanding of diverse values and cultures by directly interacting with the overseas employees. All this leads to everyone feeling a spirit of "One-Furukawa"--that we are all members of the same Group. The bond forged between the trainees has become a great asset to our company.
